The Bay of Ieranto "a dive into the myth"
The Bay of Ieranto, a cove located at the tip of the Sorrento Peninsula, has inspired myths and legends amid the silvery green olive trees and the crystal-clear blue waters of the bay. Overlooking the iconic Faraglioni cliffs, it also holds traces of a recent industrial past.
The trail begins with a gentle ascent through Mediterranean scrub, with Mount San Costanzo on the right. From the panoramic viewpoints, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Marina del Cantone and the Amalfi Coast stretching all the way to Praiano, with the Li Galli Islands and Isca completing the landscape.
Continuing along the path, the view of Marina del Cantone fades as you enter the true Bay of Ieranto. On the left is Punta di Montalto with its historic 16th-century tower. To the right, Mount San Costanzo and Punta Campanella, which stretches toward Capri and ends with its own tower. Capri itself is partially visible, but the iconic Faraglioni stacks stand out clearly, including the famous “hole” in one of them.
After passing the FAI headquarters, which offers guided tours and other activities, you finally descend via an old staircase to reach the small pebble beach of the bay.
