Il Molare "the highest peak of the Lattari Mountains"
Naturalistic and Scenic Itinerary Between History and Religion
This excursion will take us to the highest peak of the Lattari Mountains, Monte San Michele (1444 m), also known locally as the “Molare” due to its distinctive shape. From here, we will enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the surrounding territory, stretching from the Sorrento Peninsula to Punta Licosa, from the Picentini mountains to Mount Vesuvius and the Matese massif. On clear days, it is even possible to admire the Pontine Islands.
Our itinerary, closely connected to the figures of San Catello, Sant’Antonino, and the Archangel Michael, will follow a circular path through the beautiful beech forest (faggeta), the Conocchia, the spring of the “holy water” — home to the carnivorous plant Pinguicola hirtiflora — and the Neviere (ancient snow pits), all immersed in the stunning mountain landscape of Monte Faito.
