Seasonal Workshop
“Each season has its own color, its own fruits, its own pleasant scents.”
Four sessions, one for each season (or at least two), in which children and young people explore the rural environment, discovering its unique characteristics, activities, and products specific to that time of year. Then, they carry out one of the activities related to that particular season.
Approximately:
First session
September or October, or the first half of November
Workshop on walnuts, wine, and olive oil
Third session
March or April. Sowing workshop
Second session
December, January, or February. Cooking workshop or winter farming activities workshop
Fourth session
May – June. Harvesting workshop
Objectives:
- To draw attention to the fact that each season has its specific products.
- To help understand that the quality of what we eat is linked to seasonality.
- To guide children and young people towards choosing seasonal fruits and vegetables.
- To educate about proper nutrition.
- To encourage reflection on the seasonal changes in the surrounding environment.
- To raise awareness about climate change caused by pollution and its impact on agriculture.
Cyclical Educational Garden
Three sessions (or at least two) where participants will hoe, sow, harvest, etc.
First session: Sowing workshop.
Second session: Care and growth workshop.
Third session: Harvesting workshop.
Objectives:
- To experience agricultural cultivation techniques.
- To raise awareness about the work of a farmer.
- To understand the importance of agriculture for human life.
- To educate about commitment, hard work, patience, and respect for the environment.
Note: For cyclical visits, a preparatory meeting at the school is planned but, unlike unique visits, it is optional.
