Valley of the Ferriere
Naturalistic and scenic itinerary in the Valle delle Ferriere. The route is easy and not very strenuous. It winds through the beautiful medieval villages of Minuta and Pontone, then continues through stunning woods, springs, small waterfalls, and several rapids of the Rio Canneto, once used as a power source for ancient paper mills. The ruins of the mills are still visible and visitable; these mills once produced the famous Amalfi paper, which is still highly sought after today. Midway through the route, you will encounter the ancient ironworks, from which the valley takes its name, which supplied iron to the ancient Maritime Republic of Amalfi. Afterwards, we enter the nature reserve, where we can observe the local biodiversity, including the woodwardia fern, and then proceed to the area of the ancient mills.
