Our Services
Our Territory
Vico Equense is the gateway to the Sorrento Coast. Sea, mountains, and hills coexist in its vast territory, stretching from wide beaches up to the 1,400-meter peak of Mount Faito. Nestled between sea and mountains—awarded multiple times with the prestigious Blue Flag—lush hills embrace the historic center, which stands on a cliff overlooking the sea.
The area has been home to Italic, Etruscan, and Greek civilizations, as evidenced by the artifacts preserved in the Antiquarium Aequano.
In the town center, you’ll find more historical landmarks, such as the Castle, built at the end of the 13th century and expanded three centuries later, and the former Cathedral of the Annunciation (SS. Annunziata), dating back to the 14th century.
Numerous churches, scattered throughout the vast municipality—the largest in the Sorrento Peninsula—house important artworks and bear witness to the area’s deep religious devotion, celebrated year-round with traditional processions and public events.
In addition to the Campania Mineralogical Museum, one of the most important scientific museums in southern Italy, and the Antiquarium, Vico Equense boasts two more major museums: the Religious Art Museum at the Convent of San Vito and the CITES Nature Museum in Pacognano, located within the Salesian “Sereno Soggiorno” facility.
In the hills, panoramic trails offer scenic hikes through small rural villages called “Casali”, known for their agricultural products and cheesemaking traditions.
The area is rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage. You can admire stunning views of Positano and the Amalfi Coast from Santa Maria del Castello, and visit impressive monuments such as the Camaldolese monastery of Astapiana (17th century) in Arola or the 14th-century fresco cycle in the Chapel of Santa Lucia in Massaquano.
Mount Faito also offers summer sports activities at its mountain sports center.
Vico Equense is also a renowned spa destination, thanks to the sulfur springs of Scrajo, located at sea level and known for their therapeutic properties since Roman times.
